Why aren't female rappers taken seriously??

I had an interview a couple of days ago and I was asked if I thought I'd ever be considered a "dope MC" opposed to "a dope MC to be a female" ...........hopeful answer: yeah.......realistic answer: no

It's crazy because if you really wanna measure the work we (female rappers) put in, verses a lot of these male rappers who get way more shine, it really doesn't add up. The grind for female artist is on a whole nother level. Way less sleep, way more songs recorded and released, more energy put into image, way more promo and way less credit.

Why? Because at the end of the day we're still "female rappers" in an industry dominated by men. We have to prove we're good enough to go against guys, who most times aren't good enough to go against us.

the solution to this? MORE DOPE FEMALE RAPPERS. and I stress "dope"

Why isn't Lauryn Hill mentioned in peoples top 5 MC's??
When you think of the top 10 greatest rap songs of all time, does Queens UNITY cross your mind?
When you see an MCM jacket, do you think Big Daddy Kane or Salt n Peppa?

......a penny for your thoughts
